ONE ROOM / SOHO in KIYOKAWA

This project is the interior design for SOHO, Tokyo. An old shoe factory was transformed into collective housing. It consists of just “one room”with 5 freestanding walls which create spaces for housing equipment. It is as simple as that. There is no separate toilet or bathroom, instead everything is included in “one room”.The five walls have varying colors from the front, yet from behind they are all white. When passing the walls the sensation of the space changes and the mode of living switches, creating a diversity of spacial experiences. Each wall is perforated by different openings. The walls and openings can be used for a TV, clothes, a chair etc. and thus provide vital functions for the house.
